Happy Australia Day everyone - and also Happy Birthday Granny Peg - 70 today!! Woke around 830am after an awesome night's sleep. Had coffee, then shower, then breakfast and hit the road. Today we drove around a couple of headlands in the Streaky Bay District. We stopped off at Murphys Haystacks first, some ancient rock formations but only took pictures from the car park as rocks really aren't our thing! Then we headed out to Point Labatt. On the way we saw a paddock full of emus but they got camera shy and began to run off as I got out of the car. Point Labatt is a sealion colony and there were about 30 of them sunning themselves on the rock. I took a mass of photographs and then Nick took a load so sorry for them all on the blog! Next we drove on to Sceale Bay but didn't stop, as they were exercising horses on the beach. Instead we drove on and did the Westall Way Loop, stopping at Smooth Pool an awesome little beach full of rock pools. We got home about 130pm and Nick went straight out for bread and milk for lunch and to refuel. Then we sat and relaxed for a while, although it wasn't easy as it was hot and airless and the tide was right out on the bay. Nick played cricket on the beach for a while but around 5pm we decided to head to the beach to cool down. We went off to Back Beach, which was very pretty but difficult to swim in. The beach had a reef that you had to try and get past to have a decent swim. Nick braved it but I just wallowed in a rock pool! We left at 6pm and it was still 34 degrees! Home for dinner, a couple of glasses of champagne and a sit outside under the Mullivan lights thanks to the WoundsWest girls!! xxx
