We all slept a little better last night - I think we are acclimatizing to the heat and noises, and didn't get up until 8 am. After breakfast we did a little bit of schoolwork and then set off for the Yellow Water Region of Kakadu. We began with the 2km Gun-gardun walk, which was a circular walk through woodlands. It was the least interesting walk we've done so far and it was really hot. Katharine and I cooled down in the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre but the others weren't keen to get out of the car so we explored it on our own. Next stop was lunch and we went to the Gagudju Lodge in Cooinda for a pizza at the bistro. We spent the afternoon on a boat cruising through the Yellow Water Wetlands and saw some amazing birds and a lot of crocs - one was in the middle of eating a wallaby!! Although the breeze on the water was beautiful we were all hot by the time the cruise ended and so headed back to the lodge for an ice cream. On the way home we called in for some groceries and finally got back to the van around 5 pm - a very long day but well worth it. We all cooled down in the pool until it got dark and then had a late dinner. The kids were happy spending the evening watching a movie so Nick and I were able to spend the evening reading.
