We slept in until after 8am then began a very slow pack up as we were in no hurry to leave. We hit the road around ten am and it took us about two and a half hours to get to Kakadu. Once in the National Park we crossed a huge river and the kids got their first glimpse of a crocodile sitting on the bank. We had booked into the Lakeside Caravan Park in Jabiru and were given a large site with a free en suite - the kids loved their private bathroom but weren't so impressed with the park after the Big 4 in Darwin. We had lunch and a bit of a relax and then headed into Jabiru town centre to have a look around. We found a foodlands and got an ice cream then headed home for a swim. Two other families were at the pool, both with four children each and the same ages as ours so our kids suddenly thought the park was great. I made dinner and then the plan was to sit outside and watch the stars but Nick was chased inside by mosquitoes before I'd even served up so we stayed inside for the rest of the evening. We slept with all the windows and vents open and a nice breeze blew through the van. The noise from all the insects, frogs and birds was something else but great to listen to even though we were trying to sleep!!
