Up earlyish for a long walk with the dog across the ridges surrounding the valley in which Rivecave nestles. Francis is so passionate about his surroundings, stopping every few yards to describe a wild flower or soaring bird. It's very infectious. Weather is somewhat iffy though with light rain.
Back to change and off to a wine tasting in Loiras near Lodev. The winery is called Domaine Jordy. We were greeted by a pleasant young Frenchman called Frederick who had remarkably good English skills. He
Showed us around the winery which dissapointingly seemed more vats than barrels but we was friendly and genuine in his tour and subsequent answers to our questions.
Back around the table to sample wines both White, Red and Rose. Several glasses either drunk or spat we made up a mixed case and headed back. Of particular note was a delicately sweet White wine to be served perhaps with foie gras. And a hefty red that had benefitted from it's 2 years in barrels. Francis filled huge 'petrol cans' with table wine which was of a pretty good standard too.
Some of the guys went swimming when we got back and Francis made a salmon carbonara for supper while Adam made a gorgeously gooey chocolate pudding. More drinks and laughter and then off to bed.
