Say goodbye to Francis and Adam and also Nick and Simon who fly back today. Weather iffy but top of car mostly off. Head to Montauban north of Toulouse. We are staying in a spa that was an old abbey. As soon as we get there, it's clothes off and towelling robe on and we are off to the sauna and steam rooms and relax by the jacuzzi and pool. Bliss.
Wandered into town for dinner. Montauban is an interesting town. Terraced on many levels with old town full of arcades of interesting shops which were sadly closed as it is a Sunday.
Dinner at an Indian restaurant. Kir to start and then poppadom and pickles which were quite good.
Starter was onion bhaji and samosa. Very home made. My samosa was crossed with a Cornish pasty but was v tasty. Raita oddly came with three prawns in it. When the waiter came, we explained this as best we could in French and asked for another 'sans crevettes'. He looked puzzled then nodded and smiled and went off and brought another raita overflowing with prawns! What must the kitchen have thought. We explained that this was not what we asked for and it was taken away and replaced with a normal one. Had amazing vindaloo beef with peas pillau rice. Sadly it had a piece of plastic in it which looked like something from a vegetable bag. Quelle dommage! It was delicious anyway and on spying the plastic the waiter knocked off our Kirs.
Back to room to sleep. Absolutely chucking it down.
