Wayne's & Bonnie's Travels
Last night was a formal night and we tried the dining room again. Even though we got there with another couple at 8:30, we still had to get a pager and wait to be seated. We have never had to wait at that time before. The lobster and shrimp were very good and the service was OK.
Our ship is too large to dock in Stockholm so we anchored in Nynashamn, which is s small port town about an hour away from Stockholm by bus or train. Princess wanted $130 for the two of us to take the bus to Stockholm. Instead we went on our own and took a commuter train. It was only about a 10 minute walk from where the tenders dropped us off and cost only about $32 round trip for both of us. We got off at the Central Train Station which is in middle of downtown Stockholm. The Old Town section is about a 5 minute walk away. We got there in time to watch the changing of the guard ceremony at the Royal Palace. It was quite interesting but not as elaborate as in the peak tourist season when it is done on horseback. We then walked around sightseeing in the Old Town area. Of course we stopped for a local beer. After a couple of hours we walked back to the train station to catch the train back to the ship.
