The Big Race is Tomorrow!
Our team is finally all in town for the first time in a couple weeks. Both of my teammates are teachers, and they had Fall Break from Oct. 8-18. Karen and I trained together last week while Isaac was gone. On Monday, the three of us went to Drakes Creek Park in Hendersonville and ran 2.5 miles. On Tuesday, we did the bike loop in Gallatin (in the right direction this time), but were only able to do 9.5 because we were losing daylight. Last night Karen and I ran another 2.5 miles and then did some walking.
Tonight we will be heading downtown to get check in and get our race bibs and further info. The race starts tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. in the plaza across from the Country Music Hall of Fame. At 2:00 the race officials will sweep anyone who hasn't finished yet from the race.
I'm a little nervous after reading the message board comments from the Oyster Race in Austin, TX. There was a lot more running than most people were prepared for (8 miles it looks like), and they were dealing with cooler weather like we are expected to have. Luckily, (maybe not luck, since we've all been praying) it looks like it will not be raining for our race.
We are very close to having enough donations to get a Course Clue. They will be accepting online donations for another couple hours, so if you would like to donate to my team, you can visit the website below. All donations go to Greenways for Nashville, a non-profit organization that has been setting aside and establishing green areas and paved trails for people to use for walking, running, hiking, biking, and skating without having to worry about on-coming cars. Our team is called "In the Spirit."
