The rain put a damper on things initially today and we had to head back to our accommodation after lunch. Once it cleared up, we went to check out the Basilica Cistern which was quite cool. Afterwards we made our way to their Grand Bazar, wow! It was an enclosed market where you could purchase anything from carpet, tea, shirts, bags, jewelry, traditional Turkish wear, spices, dried fruit, lanterns and souvenirs . We bought some fresh assorted Turkish Delight which is different to the stuff you buy in the boxes. A bit more expensive but well worth it. The market was amazing, so many people purchasing and lots of salesmen trying to lure you in to buy stuff. We left there and bought the tickets to the river cruise along with Bosphorus. We had about an hour before it was to leave so we sat in the park and had some corn on the cob which is sold everywhere throughout Sultanahmet. About 100 people went on the night cruise, was lovely sitting up top, admiring the views and getting some pretty cool shots of both the Asian and European side of the city. That finished at about 9.30pm and we walked back through the centre and had the Turkish Delight for dinner that we purchased earlier with tea once we for back. So yummy. Incredibly healthy!
