We woke up and headed to the restaurant of our villa for breakfast. I got a carrot and ginger juice ad we both went for scrambled eggs with bacon and a baguette to eat. When it came, it looked lovely but when i tried some of the eggs they tasted slightly fishy which put us off so i ended up just eating the bacon and baguette.
We are renting a motorbike today to explore the town. Last night we sorted through some things to send back home so we have more room so we put it all in a canvas bag and drove to the post office. It didn't look open from the front when we arrived so we went in hrough the back but it looked like apartments, we then realised it may be closed over the weekend so we left and went to to Canadia bank ATM as it doesn't charge to take money out.
Once we both withdrew some dollars we headed back to Samon's villa to dump the bag back in the room and head to the rapids. It was a nice drive on straight roads, we passed a checkpoint where we had to pay $1 to pass. We arrived, parked up and headed down the path to the stream but there were no rapids, it was quite a still river infact. We paid a dollar to lay in two hammocks.
There were loads of locals around, i only saw 2 tourists. There were loads of kids playing in the river and on rocks which was sweet to watch. We were resting our eyes in the hammock when we suddenly heard the sound of water. Locals were making their way down to the river to watch. It was crazy, loads of water had appeared from nowhere heading viciously down stream, finally, the rapids! The river was getting deeper and all the rocks the kids were playing on were now submerged under the water. Maybe it was from all the rain that fell yesterday but it was wierd how it happened so suddenly.
After lazing about in the hammocks we felt peckish so got on our bike and drove into town to find somewhere to eat. We ended up at a place called veronicas kitchen and i ordered a chicken club wrap and hashbrown and dan went for breakfast. It was tasty but i could only eat one half of the wrap so gave the rest to Dan. We are running out of things to smoke we after lunch, dan asked some tuktuk drivers if they had some which they did but wanted $20 or $100 for it so we decided to cruise around town stopping off asking the tuktuk drivers if they had stuff.
We wern't getting anywhere until a guy we spoke to before passed us again gesturing to follow him. He was able to get it for us so we drove behind him to a small bar where dan went in and got a massive bag for $20.
Now that we had our "fix" as we call it to take the piss we headed back to the bungalows near us called bodhi village. Da had come in before as a tuktuk driver said they sell smoke in there but they didn't so we went in for a smoke and a drink. A rod stewart song came on funnily after after we were talking about him and then an old man abruptly stood up and said he's changing the song "sorry rod" which made me laugh.
We got on the bike to drive a meter down the road to out bungalows where we chilled in the room for a bit before deciding to head back out to get munchies for tonight from the bakery. It was dark now so it was scary driving with no street lights. We drove over the bridge and traipsed up and down each road trying to find the bakery we passed earlier on.
As we were driving in the dark, we saw a cat sat in the road with it's eyes reflecting off our headlight which caused Dan to break sharply and we both went flying off the bike. I fell ontop of Dan but he was the first to get up. My trousers had been ripped at the knees and i couldn't move. A family came from their shop to see what happened and helped us over on two chairs they got out for us. My left hand was throbbing along with both my knees, and blood had stained my shredded, beloved pink primark trousers. The man went off sonewhere on his bike while another family member cut my trousers off. The woman was helping me, and as i started crying she was looking at me and it's like our eyes were communicating as they couldn't speak any english. It felt like a woman's understanding of one another, i feel like she felt i just wanted my mum.
Daniel's left arm got hurt and he couldn't move it as he could before. He has a few cuts on his legs and grazes in his stomach. The man returned on the scooter with a plastic bag, he had drive to the pharmacy to get us bandages, cotton wool and disinfectant.
The woman applied some clear liquid onto cotton wool and began cleaning my wounds. It was the scariest thing ever, the liquid turned white and looked like it was corroding my skin, it burnt like hell too and i kept pulling back as it hurt too much. She did this to all our cuts before putting on iodine solution. It was like something out of casualty. She then put cotton wool over the cuts and wrapped bandages around it.
We didn't know what we were going to do, could you get a bike on a tuktuk? I was reluctant to get back on the bike and dan wouldn't be able to drive. I felt so hopeless, it was a situation that couldn't be handled by just dialling 999 and asking for an ambulance. We were trying to describe that we are staying over the bridge but the penny didn't drop for them. They gestured for us to get on the bike, i was going with the woman and her little girl on their bike and daniel went with the man on the bike we crashed. I found it hard holding onto the back of the bike as my left hand was burning and stinging too much.
Daniel directed them to our place and when we got off we tried to give them $10 to which they refused. I couldn't thank them enough, i felt really touched by their generosity and good nature. When they drove off, daniel and i limped towards our house. We should have told them we crashed the bike and the mirror had smashed but dan couldn't be arsed to deal with it and neither could i.
We sat in the room in silence for a while, still in shock. It was late and we hadn't yet eaten. The kitchen at the restaurant had closed so we decided to order a pizza from a place we tried to last night. So, instead of us phoning them ourselves, reception called them and ordered for us. They were going to pay $2 for a tuktuk so with that ordered we went back to the room.
It still hadn't come after over half an hour so we were getting a bit impatient until out one of the cracks in the wood we spotted a man heading to reception with two large boxes. Daniel went to collect and pay for them, $15 altogether! We took the pizza upstairs and onto the bed.
There were soo many flies everywhere, near the light and in, yes IN the mosquito net. There was a bottle of ketchup given with the pizza which was a bit odd. We watched an idiot abroad and fell asleep. I woke up at 3 because i couldn't sleep, the pain was too much so i had a cigarette and some water and settled back down again.
