This was the last time we would wake up in our little house to the sound of the waves crashing against the shore, sadly. Check out is at 10:00 so we made sure we had packed everything last night. We had one more lay down on our balcony before we left our little hut to head to reception. On checking out, we paid our tab of food and drink we had throughout our stay.
We both ordered a full english and ate every last bit, except the grilled tomatoes. We thought we had killed some time until our return boat at 15:00 but it was only around 10:45 so we went to lay in the hammocks beneath the trees on the beach. The weather had been a bit dull yesterday and today as well with even a little bit of rain. I savoured every minute i had left on the beach, staring at the sea and sand, the people sunbathing who are lucky enough to have another day at the beach.
After a while of lazing about in the hammocks, we went back in for lunch; a bit greedy i know, i had an egg mayo baguette which could have done with some salad. When it got to around 14:20, we bought some friendship bracelets from the bat and headed off to the pier, bare foot to the man with the fruit stall. The woman was working today, but she still dished us up a healthy sized portion of tropical goodness. We headed to the pier hat we went to when we came to the island, not sure if it was the right one and awaited to be called on the boat.
There were people doing yoga in the pier next to us which looked cool.
We got on the boat eventually, not sure where exactly it wad going. The boat was pretty fast for a slowboat, i think it was a speedboat to be honest. We made a stop at the sister island to koh rong: koh rong saloem. When the boat docked the pier , there was no ramp or steps for people to get in our out which led to luggage and boxes being thrown to people on the boat and people had to swing to get into the boat it was crazy and looked like a friggin nightmare.
The journey wasn't too long, we are the fruit we had bought earlier, glad we did as we were quite peckish. When we pulled into sihanoukville it didn't look familiar. We were going through the industrial port with big ferrys and when we got out the boat we were bombarded with men offering rides but thank god there was already a transfer bus waiting for all the tourists. Got talking to a middle aged english bloke who recommended staying at a place called ollys in kampot.
When we got into town the bus parked right outside the rogue shop which is perfect as that was where we were heading for. I got some music to put onto my iphone: arabesque 2, azaelia banks, marbella sessions and the third series of an idiot abroad as well as two films; wolf of wall street and the internship. Dan got some more stuff put onto his ipad and all together it cost $23.60.
As i was waiting for our ipads to be pimped, Dan headed to the guesthouse we stayed at earlier to check for availability, i doubted they would have any rooms but when he returned he got us one he said its not the nicest but it will do for one night. We then headed to monkey republic to book our bus tickets to kampot, buy a vest and have some dinner. Dan bought a "rise up" vest with a monkey and i got one that says monkey island on it. I ordered tuna salad for dinner which was tasty and healthy as i feel i need a detox.
We left and headed back to the room. It's not a bungalow like we got before and as i was walking up the metal steps, i saw a rat in the corridor, horror! We put our bags down in the room and smoked a j outside. We came back and began to watch an idiot abroad before we fell asleep. Worst sleep ever. Kept waking up itching really badly so we smoked another one and put on loads of deet. Not sure if mosquitos or bed bugs but they're feasting on us like it's christmas. When we eventually got back to bed dan quickly jumped up gasping which made me jump up because he said he heard something and saw something. Worst night ever!
