When we woke up we headed over to the restaurant for a drink and to chill by the river. We weren't hungry but when we got a bit peckish we saw a blackboard stating the kitchen would be closed from 11:00am, damn it! We have to go into town again today anyway as we want to get out of samon's village for the day.
Reception called us a tuktuk and we waited outside until it came. First stop was the pharmacy again as i need to buy more bandages and vaseline so they don't stick to the wounds. The pharmacy we went in on the roundabout didn't have a clue and didn't speak english. She managed to understand bandage but when i asked for vaseline; i even asked for petroleum jelly but she was none the wiser.
We then asked the tuktuk to take us to Veronica's kitchen for lunch which is a cafe by the river where we went before. We both ordered the breakfast so it would come out at the same time. It was tasty and presented nicely with scrambled eggs, heinz baked beans, crispy, streaky bacon and baguette cut up in pieces. I had a mixed fruit shake to wash it all down with.
We asked the waiter if he knew where a cake shop was and he directed us 5 minutes to the left where we ended up at sisters 2 bakery and cafe. They had lots of cakes in a glass cabinet which included banana cake, carrot cake, lime pie, apple pie, cinnamon whirl and brownies and me and dan got two brownies and two cinnamon whirls to take back.
A tuktuk met us from the bakery and took us to another pharmacy to try our luck for vaseline. He took us to two, both of which had no idea so we just headed back to Samon's villa to relax. I finally started my book "the other hand" by Chris Cleave and i'm glad i did! I managed to take some more of the dried up bits of cotton wool off my scab with the help of water and tweezers but it looks so awful i don't want to do any more to it.
When it got to around dinner time, the kitchen still wasn't open so we headed next door to bodhi village for dinner. Its only around 20 metres away but it was a scary walk along the road in the dark, not seeing what animals are crawling around by your feet always makes me nervous. When we got there we sat on the only available table on a cushiony stool. We both ordered tuna baguette and chips to share. When the food came, two men came over at different times to look at it because it looked good which made me laugh.
I couldn't finish it as it was a monster portion but we did get dessert, something i had my eye on since the first time we ate at bodhi's- chocolate coconut rum balls. When they came they were exactly what i was expecting, small, soft, boozey balls of chocolate covered in shaved coconut. They were delicious! We headed back to Samon's villa in the dark, thank god the dogs weren't barking this time and went back to our little shack to chill out and eventually fall asleep.
