Woke up at 8! Still don't actually believe that we're about to go diving with sharks! I'm nervous of being eaten obvs but I'm so excited!
We chose to do it in the aquarium as we're guaranteed to actually see something! Plus I'm only a few metres away from the paramedic! And the money goes towards a charity against the fishing of sharks for shark fun soup! The numbers of sharks killed each year in S.E.Asia are like 40,000 odd and in Malaysia this charity has helped get it down to less than 2,000!
Went to McDonalds for breakfast before and Annie ate a fillet-o-fish burger!! My plan may be coming into action if the sharks smell fish protruding from her ;) only joking if she died I don't know what I'd do, can't carry a dismembered body home alone :p
Said our last goodbyes to the receptionist and she said we could have discount if only half of us comes back!! How sweet!
Got a taxi there at 10:30 as the doors opened and independence day flags were everywhere!! We didn't realise it was inference day today and there was a fireworks display at the twin towers last night! Why do we have to miss such good stuff!
At 11:00 Andrew, our geeky dive instructor came for us and helped us sign our lives away! Had sign basically every limb away to the sharks just in case! Every single symptom such dizziness, malaria and other medicines, drowsiness and sickness we both have, not to mention Annie's asthma, still we're desperate to dive now so just checked no anyway :)
Went to get suited up in the not so flattering scuba gear! It's so weird seeing the aquarium from the top! My scuba suit was 7 sizes too tight and I only realised after half an hour of getting it upto my waste that it was on back to front! Another half hour later of Annie dragging the suit off of me and almost flying backwards into the aquarium we were ready to go!
Andrew said the sharks hadn't been fed since Wednesday and there next feed is due! Great! Why not just roll me in batter, fry me with some salt and vinegar and throw me in with chips!
Walked along the jetty and then dived in! The water is soooo cold! It's 26'c which is now freezing to us! Once we saw all the turtles, rays, fish and sharks swarming around though, the temperature was the last thing I was thinking about!
Supposed to have 20 minutes down there but he gave us 27!! Just because we're his favourite guests! He was doing cartwheels in the tank and falling asleep as he does this everyday! I want his job! There's only one job though so he said I'd have to feed him to the sharks before I can get it! This can be arranged!
There's people walking through the glass tunnel in the tank that could see us and were taking photos of us the whole time, getting us to pose! Annie saw someone she clearly liked and made it obvious by tapping me on the shoulder and thrusting in the middle of the water! The Muslim family with children watching, walked past in disgust! Ha!
We know what each other is thinking all the time, she pointed to two western girls and gave the 'please' signal which means we don't like them! Subtly have another signal back which I think they may have seen... :/
Almost stroked a fish! they came up to us to see what was going on when I stood still but if I put my hands out they swim away :( the sharks looked docile! Rays were swimming underneath us! Weird! And there was a hige Green turtle, that the photographer didn't even get a photo of, even though it was right next to me and swam at a pace of 1ml an hour!
We will be in 100+ Asian photo albums! Wearing a half massed scuba suit that probably shrunk to half it's size!
Got out after and im boiling hot again! Didn't want to have to come up, I would rather be a fish! Although my ears hurt so bad from the pressure! Took my tregus bar out last night for the first time and it stung in the saltwater :(
We got showered and changed into our free canary yellow,'cage rage' t-shirts! Annie made me! And we walked around the aquarium for the rest of the day! We got a certificate too to congradulate us on surviving!
The photos the photographer took were crap! Didn't want to pay for a booklet and it will get crumpled in my bag anyway so I just took them on my phone when the girl at the counter wasn't looking! ;) Ching Ching
Walked around aquarium, Annie wrestled 30 Asian kids out of way to get to a bubble window underneath the awuarium for a photo in the kinder garden! I pretended to walk off as if alone... :/
Touched a sea cucumber and a spider crab and a sand shark! I'm so hard.
Annie had sex with a butterfly! She kept rubbing it up and down, harder and faster, and it was loving it and twitching away at the other side of the plastic sheet it was perched on! It had antena going crazy for her and she loved it almost as much!
I left them alone!
Awks!
And saw the worlds largest fresh water fish! It's the ugliest thing I've ever seen! This aquarium just goes on and on...
When we left we got a taxi home, the window screen was held on by a peice of string, the door, attached with a coat hanger and half the side of the car was smashed into itself! The driver weighed 23 tonnes and his rolls of sweaty fat petruded onto the seat next to him! Had about 3 inch squared of leg room in this tin of baked beans on wheels! Still, it was the only taxi on independence day that would use a meter! And I just love arriving in style!
That night we went to marketplace again and met Clay and his work friend! It's usually Frangipani on a Friday but there's supposedly a special event on tonight! The worst singer I've heard! Ever! So bad that we stayed upstairs all night to drown out the sound! And chilling by the towers in the breeze is sweeeet!
Met Jorich And Gabrielle who came and sat with us and Gabrielle told us just how much fun we will have in Bali as he just got back from there!
Went for and falafel at an Indian restaurant at 3:00am! It was awful and dry! It came with the noodle soup separate! Odd!
