Got home around 1pm today... Ooops... YOLO! Had a quick breakfast/lunch in our guesthouse before leaving... Today we went to see the Grand Palace! We took $10 as we don't want to carry too much money and it's supposed to be $2 each entry! It was actually $6! Wound :(
So there was nothing we could do, we walked back via the museum though as planned, which was, $2 :) thank god...
Again strictly no photos as the guards here are on the ball! Still managed to get a few though ;) they cant prove that I'm not reading e-mails on my iPhone ;)
Walked around for an hour, this was quite small... And boring really not a lot to see here :( only a few peices of jewellery and weapons the usual stuff, but it wasn't well preserved at all!! It was all the same things just almost thrown into glass boxes... :/
Until nearer the end, the second half got better as there were more Buddhas, more upto date info and you knew what you were looking at! I think we were more occupied by the koi pond built in the centre of the building... :/
Then we went to visit a temple on the way back home, Wat Ounalom! It's situated in the middle of a housing block! No wonder we walked all the way around it before we realised we were right infront of it!! It was pretty amazing when inside!
When we got back to our room, we got ready straight away! We planned on going to a dance show tonight at 6:30 with Din and Da, it was Din's friend who was dancing in a contemporary show for a performing arts school! Should be good!
Din warned me not to be any later than 6 as if your late they won't let you in! And he knows were late every night... Because of annie stealing my mirror of course ;) we got there 5 minutes early and waited over 30minutes for them! They said it was fine we will still go so we arrived, half an hour late and they wouldn't let us in! Cambodian time keeping!! :/
So instead we all went for drinks around the corner, Da and John had fish! An actual fish! With scales and eyes and everything and just pecked at it with chopsticks! They even ate it's head! And brain!! Annie looked over in disgust!
Then me Annie and Katerina went to go eat elsewhere along the river for some western food, I was put off Khmer food for life now!! haha...
We said bye to Katerina who was leaving the next day for the beach, and got ready to go out for the evening :D Friday night is so much busier! Opposite to Siem Reap!
We went to the same bars and clubs as usual, that's why it's good to have local friends instead of other travellers, they want to go to touristy places that everyone goes to to eat western food all the time and meet other Caucasians!!!
Not me and Annie! It's better to meet locals, you get more if a feel for the place and they know where to go for cheap food/drink which is a bonus! And we're safer with local people as we're not a prime target for pickpockets!
Also! Asians love us! They love white skin, and try to stay out of the sun as much as possible, the whiter you are, the more beautiful you are apparently... Our Asian friends have always commented on my nose being so straight and Annie's ears! A lot of them have nose jobs and one guy had fillers in his nose to make it look straight, he then had to have this filed down to allow for his real nose job! Extreme measures if you ask me!
