Today we traveled from Williams, AZ to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. It is once again amazing how you approach, and it is just a sidewalk with a knee wall at the end. Then you get close enough to see over and your like "Holy, Moly, look at the size of that hole". I really think it would have been cool to ride a mule into the canyon but I guess I am a little past my prime to do that and still be able to walk some time the same year.
When you stand and look at the canyon, because there is nothing in this open canyon space to help your brain comprehend or compare the vastness, the size is hard to wrap your brain around. You can read that the other side is 10 miles away and that the bottom is a mile down, but it is still hard to visualize how really far that is because it is so large it is easy to see across. I have repeatedly said that the sights we have seen since leaving home have been so large and vast that my head had a hard time really realizing the scope of size. I need a school bus in the bottom of each valley or canyon so I can tell how far away I am and how little it is, then maybe I could grasp the hugeness of it all.
None the less, it was beautiful to see, and I think a canyon this large is definitely a God size thing.
