We toured Antelope Canyon with the most amazing Navajo guide named Ryan. He was so friendly, informative and helpful. The tour of the slot canyons was supposed to be between 50 and 70 minutes but we were in there over 90 minutes. It was about one mile that we walked and took more pictues then you could imagine. Everywhere you looked it was just amazingly beautiful.
These slot canyons were formed over millions of years as rainwater flowed through the sandstone making the beautiful flowing crevices. Aug. and Sept. are supposed to be the monson season but thank goodness we did not see rain. When it does rain, the canyons are usually closed as the rain still runs down these slots and into Lake Powell.
Our wonderful guide was kind enough to show us how to use our cameras in the slots to get good pictures. He would even take our cameras and take pictures for us and of us so that they would come out perfect.
In some places the floor of the slot was not any wider then our shoe, thank goodness it widened as it went up so we could get our bodies through. This was one of the most mesmerizing things of beauty I have seen. Well we have seen so much it is hard to really say that but I would count it in one of the top 5 things we have seen and done.
