The storm continued well into the night and when we get up bedraggled tenters are mopping up and wringing out their kit.
The original plan was to walk/bike into Rab town and stay a second night, but Stalagluft 97 is so unwelcoming and over priced we will now check out, park in town and drive on after our visit. We intend not to make a fuss but the manager asks how much we enjoyed our stay, so we tell him it is our worst experience so far. Extortionate tariff, scruffy disorganised pitches, unhelpful staff and the rest. He offers to make amends on our next [unlikely] visit but won't actually give any concession on this.
We drive a couple miles to the capital of what is billed as 'The Happy Island', but the old town car parks don't allow motorbikes or motorhomes. It could have been interesting, but if they don't want us we won't stick around, so after a lay-by conflab we head back to the ferry, only to find we were overcharged yesterday. So basically Rab cost us £80 to sleep in a thunderstorm.
Back on the mainland, after a choppy ferry ride, the D8 continues to hug the coast with magnificent views over the blue, white-flecked sea and all the islands. We stop for lunch on a very windy clifftop then carry on to Senj where, as a variation on Lidl, we spend timed in a Konzum carpark.
500m down the road is a camperstop, Kamp Skver, two rows of vans right on the water's edge, 5 minutes walk from town. The check in is closed until six but the tariff is fine so we find two adjacent slots and settle in.
It's a delightful, quiet spot with bright sun and a lovely view.
Ali and Nick wander into town to recce a visit tomorrow while Nick W has a swim and Grete peels prawns.
At 18:00 we are checked in by a friendly receptionist. Including wifi and electric it's half the price of last night.
Dinner is chicken and rice.
