Before leaving we use the site car wash bay to clean the vans and then set off towards Pag island.
Croatia continues to surprise and amaze us. As we approach the island the sea is a polarized blue and the island looks like bare sand-coloured rock, a vast contrast from the greenery we have become used to. Near the bridge connecting Pag to the mainland we stop in a layby for lunch. Unfortunately Ali has a stomach bug and is feeling grotty, so we look for a site not too far away so she can rest.
On the way we pass some of the salty lowlands before we leave the main road and travel a few miles, on an almost single track road, through rocky farmland. Stones have been cleared and made into drystone walls and little huts. The dusty road has plenty of passing places, just as well as it carries a fair bit of traffic.
We reach the site and Ali sleeps for the afternoon, then we get out and wander to the nearby beach.
The route takes us past large clumps of aloe and oleander, and surprisingly there are grape vines growing wild in rocks on the shore. Little boats bob on their moorings and swallows soar and dive around us.
Back at the vans Ali foregoes dinner for more rest.
Hopefully after three days of problems [the burst tyre, the lost purse and the upset tummy] things will get back to normal tomorrow.

Penny Phillips Hi both Hope Ali is feeling her normal self soon and that you continue to enjoy your travels. The only things we have in common at the moment are the swallows! Love to you both. Penny & Graham x
Brian O dear - Norovirus hit the land cruise. Balmoral has a similar problem. Three day cruise cancelled whilst they had a real big deep clean and gave the ship a chance to get rid of it. Sorry we are not there to soothe your fevered brow. xxx
