Awoke to the sound to Marty snoring around 6:30am. Got up and had breaky, kids had a quick swim and all had showers. We all wanted to use as much of the facility's as possible because the owner was charging us full fee and for borh girls!! She charged us $32 for the 10hrs we were there for!!! Anyway, we had a shower, filled up the water and topped up the diesel and were off again at 11am to Bathurst Bay. Bit later than we wanted but oh well. Andy and Julia had decided that they would come too so would catch up to us.
We got to Horseshoe Lagoon turnoff to try find sone ruins and pulled up and had a chat to a bloke, we then realized Mick and Jeremy weren't behind us. We got going again and made our way back to the main road. Tried to reach him on UHF but no answer. Had lunch while we were waiting, after 30 minutes we decided to set off to try catch up to him. Got to 'Old Laura' homestead and found Andy and Julia there, but no Mick and Jeremy. Had a quick look around, interesting place. Was the first cattle station up this way and alot of miners called in passing thru for a feed. Was a great station in that thru got alot of aboriginal cattle drivers to work but was too isolated. Eventually the site of the station was moved, which is now home to 'new laura' homestead. We drove past this place but couldn't go in, and then this was the last time we spoke to them.
We continued our way on battlecamp road heading towards bathurst bay. Did a few shallow river crossings and the roads weren't too bad. Just dirt, little corrugation but overall ok. Stopped everytime we saw people to ask if theyd seen Mick and Jeremy, but eventually the trail ran cold. We continued our way and got to Princess Charlotte Bay around 4:30pm. It was beautiful. Picturesque water and awesome sunshine. The bay looks glorious, like a deserted island. There were a few campers here already but they hadn't seen Mick and Jeremy. We made our way up a steep dirt hill and slow rocky 4WD track to arrive at Bathurst bay. Pretty but not as nice as Princess Charlotte Bay. The sun was starting to set, we took a few pics and decided that Bathurst bay was a bit isolated and the other bay we were more likely to run into Mick and Jeremy.
By 6:30pm we had set up camp and heated our leftover spag bol up for tea. Everyone was concerned about Mick and Jeremy being missing. Decided to hit the hay around 9:00pm and would get up and make a plan tomorrow. Last 24hours has been eventful, hopefully the tide will turn tomorrow.
