Over the last couple of days since the last blog entry we have done pretty much the same with spending time at the beach each day for a few hours, then kicking back at the caravan park, and having an icecream or two!!!!
As you can tell by the blog photo, we went up to the lighthouse which was great with the spectacular views of the pacific ocean and Byron Bay township. The Cape Byron Lighthouse was constructed of prefabricated concrete blocks in 1901 by convicts, the Cape Byron Lighthouse stands on the most easterly point of the Australian mainland and is Australia's most easterly lighthouse. Inside the lighthouse, it had an interesting museam which we would have stayed longer but the girls decided they wanted to go. I got to partially read an old newspaper clipping which l think was from the 1950's relating to a car that had ran over the cliff edge and there was a major rescue operation with 2-3 adults dead, and 5 children injured. Was very tragic reading and would have loved to absorb more, sorry, blame the girls!!! Lol.
Anyway, at the Cape Byron lighthouse we took a walk down the steps and track to the most easterly point of Australian mainland and took a few pics. We saw some dolphins swimming way out and also some whales blowing water up from their blowholes from a distance. Looked cool, would have loved to see them closer but sure we will get the opportunity along the way somewhere. The lighthouse looks pretty cool at night with its circulating light shining the nightsky, looks like the batman light from a distance Lol hahaha!!!
After the lighthouse we came back to the caravan and kicked back, did some school for Boo and played some sports with the girls. Was playing frisby with Boo and she mistook her face for her hands and coped a frisby to her lip. There was a little blood which sent her into hysterics, was hard to hold back the laughter from Marty and l (the compassionate parents we are), but she soon settled with an ice pack!!!
We went back into town in the arvo for an icecream, Marty with his fav rum and raison, and me with my passionfruit and cookies and cream (loooovvveee it). When we got back to the caravan park there were some new young ones settling into the cabins, grog already being consumed, so we thought maybe that it might be a tad noisy in the night. We were right!!! The music was pumping out loud doof doof and then that set off the schizophrenic guy in the tent on the other side of the caravan, he was yelling the place down. So we had it going on both sides!! Last time l remember seeing the time was 4:30am in the morning and the doof doof had settled to a quieter volume!!!
Got up around 7:30am to Meg requesting breakfast like usual, "Mum l'm starving, l want breakfast!!". Had planned to send the kids outside to make some noise near the cabins to get our own back and looked out to see them sitting outside!!! Argh, they either pulled an all nighter or rose early. We were so disappointed Lol.
Anyway we packed a lunch up and decided to head into the beach for the morning and had promised the girls a picnic at the beach. We ended up at Wategos beach, and this was spectacular. Large sandy area, soft surf and a few families there with the same idea. So as usual Marty done some construction in the sand, not a sandcastle this time, but a deep hole about a metre deep. Had gone for a walk with Meg to splash in the waves and turned around to Marty putting Boo in the whole. She had a little bit of torso and shoulders showing, looked a classic, even better when we put Meg in the hole!!! After our picnic lunch we headed back to the caravan park and started to pack things up a bit for tomorrow. The young ones have already started with the loud music and drinking, so we think we might head down and have a little chat with the manager later. (God were old now!!!).
Tomorrow we are heading off to the Gold Coast, staying at Treasure Island NRMA Holiday Park in Biggera Waters for seven nights. Looking forward to a little luxury in the park, it has 3 heated swimming pools, putt putt golf course, tennis and basketball courts and a playground!!! Bit more than what weve had in Byron Bay, but costing more at $315 for the week.
Till l blog again,
Cheers,
Bell XXXX
P.S. Were missing everyone tremendously!!! XOXOXOXO
