Today was an early start with Boo having to go to the toilet at 5am!!! Then everyone was up and the morning was slow to start.
Had breaky with Kerry, Dale, Mick and the kids and then watched them packing up to set off to the Cape. We all strolled down to the river to check out the croc cruises and all the kids jumped on and got a free little ride across the river while the bloke had to move his boat. We decided to give the cruise a miss and said goodbye to our new neighbors and set off to check out Mossman River Gorge.
We arrived at 10:30am, sunscreened up and headed off into the rainforest for a stroll. The stroll ended up being a 2 hour walk on a 2km circuit, took so long as we made Meg walk nearly all of it!! Everyone was cursing me for this great idea, lol. The rainforest was awesome with it's enormous fig trees with their unbelievable trunks, the vines and canopies, the butterflies and creeks, enormous rock boulders and the noise from our two girls (lol). It was absolutely breath taking. We arrived back at 12:30pm and had a picnic lunch then the girls and l decided it was a good time to have a dip. So we got changed and headed back into the rainforest walk to the swimming hole. Was refreshing!!! Nice way of saying a bit fresh but we all enjoyed it. It was deep in parts and Boo got a bit scared but with some reassurance she was back to being her "fish" self. Meg enjoyed her swim holding on to me around my neck.
After this we hoped in the car and headed back to our camp. Did a slight detour to check out the infamous 'creb track'. After a bit of driving thru lush hill farm country on the dirt track we got to the start of the creb track to the river crossing where it was signed "closed". So we turned around and went to camp. We were both wondering how Kerry, Dale and Mick went on the creb track and if they got thru? Hopefully we will see each other again up at the Cape somewhere!
Have decided to cut one night off our stay here and start heading up to The Cape tomorrow. Plan to head up thru Cape Tribulation and camp up past Lions Den somewhere. Both very excited as have been meeting people on their return from the cape today and hearing all their stories. Hopefully ours will go off with no trauma, to both car and person!!! Lol.......
