Today we headed off into the city to the Sydney Aquarium. Found that the bloody patrol doesnt do undercover parking very well, need a clearance of 2.5m and most only do 2.1m!!! Totally frustrating as had a few discounted parking places through the aquarium but in the end couldnt use as didnt fit, so ended up having to pay $32 just for parking!!! Werent impressed, but live and learn hey.
The aquarium was great. Meg hadnt been to one so she was totally in love with it and overwhelmed at the experience. Bit frightened of the sharks at first but then loved them in the end. The walk through glass tunnel was the best, love the view of the sting rays from underneath. The aquarium also had a celebration of lego going on, hence the blog picture. There were these large lego sculptures all over place, such as a shark (which was suspended up high), a scoober diver, a whales fin, and Boo's favorite, the mermaid!!! Had lunch afterwards at the aquarium, although had planned to be home by lunch, but lost track of time.
After lunch headed off to catch the monorail. Loved it!!! Got the best view of all bits of the city. Again l know l am ranting, but l am in love with Sydney. Love the buildings and the freshness of the place. The monorail went for 20 mins and it took us all round the city passed all the major attractions.
After this we headed back to the car and decided that we may as well continue on our driving tour of Sydney and headed off to Bondi Beach. Its such a beautiful beach, awesome waves that are huge and spectacular. Can now understand why such a big deal is made about it with the surfing fraternity. The girls loved the beach. Shoes were off straight away and off they run to the water. Found a little puddle where they spashed around and laughed happily. Boo then started her tradition of scaring away the seagulls by throwing sand at them and screaching. We got some great pics and had a good look around. There was an ice skating rink set up which was cool. Marty thought not a good idea so we aborted any notion of having a go.
Drove to Kings Cross which was disappointing, but dont think we found the right part of the street which is so famous. No neon sign seen (apparently a famous neon coca-cola sign there). On heading back to caravan park, drove though macca's for our trusty soft serve icecream in cone (our family favorite).
Loving the caravan life so far, heater and electric blankets have been a god sent and now that we have set up the extra room off the annex it feels more roomly and less clostraphobic. Also, no barnies with Marty and l so all in all, off to a good start.
