Day 63. Ely, Nevada.
We left Salt Lake City relatively early today (having avoided the drug addict hanging around the hotel after money) and managed to get to the salt flats by lunchtime. Our plan to drive onto the salt and try a few speed runs was scuppered however, because the flats had been flooded by the recent rain. The Bonneville World Finals were due to be held this weekend and had also been rained off. On the way to the Bonneville Speedway we saw someone in a Mustang being towed off the flats having obviously got stuck in the soft mud.
From there we went through to Wendover for lunch where we had an interesting chat with a Romanian in a Porsche who had a rant about Brexit!
On the way out of Wendover we entered out final time zone and headed for Ely. Jane's bike managed to keep going for 94 miles before the fuel light came on. We had done that distance in just over an hour though! It managed to make it into Ely though where we have just booked into and had a meal at the Jailhouse Motel and Casino.
