Day 58. West Yellowstone, Montana.
Beautiful sunny day in Yellowstone, and much warmer than the last few days (despite being -6C at 07:00).
Headed up towards the northern entrance to see the travertine terraces at Mammoth Hot Springs. The hot springs here aren't hot enough to create geysers, but instead deposit calcium carbonate when they reach the surface, creating white terraces.
Mark was lucky enough to see a black bear and two cubs, on the way. We hit a 'bear jam' so he jumped out to see what was causing the delay. Unfortunately, one of us had to stay with the car. Tried heading down an off-road track on the way back, to try and spot another bear, but no luck ... although we saw lots of bison.
Finished off the day with a visit to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and its dramatic waterfalls.
