Day 55. West Yellowstone, Montana.
Another cold day today and snow on the roads, so ....... we've swapped vehicles! We now have a Chrysler 300C from Hertz for the sojourn around Yellowstone. We'd booked a good reliable Toyota Corolla, but were upgraded - much to Jane's disappointment!
Headed over the pass today into Yellowstone and we were toasty warm all the time. The road was actually ok for bikes (not snow covered as we had feared) and we did see a couple of brave motorbikes out in the cold. A couple of times we were glad that we were in a car though - especially when four bison passed either side within touching distance. We did wonder what we would have done on the bikes (the minimum safe distance is 25 meters out of a vehicle).
We have now passed through several of the wonders of Yellowstone including stops at the mud volcano and others.
Our motel in West Yellowstone (MT) is very nice and is our home for the next few days before we head back to pick up the bikes in Cody and continue on to the Grand Tetons. The only thing that I don't like about the car is the slogan on the number plate "Famous Potatoes" of Idaho. Not very cool!
