Today's dictome - avoid Darwin and it's associated costs. Some didgeridoo music from one of the tents a couple of days back and finding out that some campers do talk has rekindled interest in staying in. Three nights of drinking is not good and does cost. Hopefully we can get up earlier to explore somewhere tomorrow.
Provisions are low and we do not have any means to cook. Plain noodles, 10 km round trip to a shop or go into Darwin are the options. There are too many diversions in Darwin as we keep finding out.
For now some tunes and talking a rest after all the resting is going down well. Perhaps we will get round to going to the camp pool. Lazy Sunday has suddenly got a new meaning!
Travelling for me is like this, hard but rewarding travel in remote places then taking a holiday from the holiday in somewhere like this. It is all about finding contrasts both in terms of what you see and what you do. However there are no rules, it is your time. I once met a guy doing a round the world trip. His first stop was Auckland, he got a bus out, stopped at a backpackers on a stony beach and remained there for a year. He had ideas for staying at various places round the world but he said he was happy enough here. He did not work, but read a lot - there was nothing else to do once you counted the pebbles on the beach and then checked them again.
Getting sticky in the tent have to move - the pool becons. Down at the pool bumped into the Canadians that we were waiting for last night. Reports were that it was a late one last night so Si is probally not going to be that perky.
The Canadians (Jessy and Gema) have offered to take us down to the Sunday market - this means we can probally eat something down there tonight.
My god these bloggs are getting detailed. Gone are the days when you had to do this on very slow internet connections with no time - wish I could have done this offline then. It is strange how much you can write about an empty day when you are stuck on a camp site with no transport.
Jessy and Gema took us into Darwin to pick up Si and meet up with the others. The plan to go to the market was abandoned in favour of going to the deck bar that had fire acts on and 'was happening'. Looks like we have been sucked into Darwin again.
The evening turned out to be a good one. Watched two better than the norm live bands and were able to sit about and have a laugh.
If you are wondering the picture is of Jessy and Gema doing a pretend bomb attack on Monsoons - after suggesting that I would rather bomb it than go there again. It was one of those nights.
