4 days live aboard to the Similan Islands rated by Jaque Cousteu as one of his top 10 is based around 9 islands named by the Malaysian..as 9 Islands mmh..
I agree with him much better than the red sea or Maldives...
Water temperature stayed around 30.c and surface temp was much much higher,
The diving was in fast current most of the time which allows us chance to see the big stuff. We were lucky enough to see a Leopard Shark, Dolphins, and best of all Manta Rays on our very last dive!! Magic...
I personally love all the small stuff like sea horses and Nudibanch which were plentiful... Wait for the photo's !!
We had 14 dives, 4 per day and 2 on the last day.. My favourite site was Richelieu rock only small rock petruding above sea level, just like an ice berg underneath the surface it went down to 35mtrs plus and spread around giving us great swim through's, chimneys and beautiful topography. with viz up to 20mtrs you could hangout there and take it all in.. Our mate Jaque named this after seeing the beautiful colours of purple and mauve reminded him of a cardinals robe I can fully understand his sentiments!!!
As we hang in the blue waiting at Koh Bon for our last dive in come the Manta Rays like bombers on a raid.. they are all around I am so enthralled with them as I roll and copy their behaviour one minute face to face, next rolling past us and back into the blue.. All this whilst their little cleaning friends are going about their work of cleaning these magnificent creatures...
The thai crew were great and exceptionally helpful and the 2 cooks managed to cook up some amazing food 4 times a day for 22 of us and never stopped smiling and laughing...
Amazing 4 days cant wait to do it again
next stop Bangkok!!
