Mark & Den's Travels
26th Aug 1st Sept Hong Kong
As we stepped off the plane from Bangkok. We leave the tranquility of Asia behind us.. The airport is packed and as Advised by Pat we search for Hotel and Travel card before leaving the airport. Well the inofrmation desk is very good and produce a list of accomadation nearby in Kowloon we spend the next hour phoning our way through the list with NO success now it is getting very late in the evening. We jump on a bus going to the centre as as we thought as soon as our feet touch tarmac we have the touts offering us accomadation. We walk with one person who looks farily OK he takes us into a block where he has rooms.. Rooms NO it was more like a BROOM CUPBOARD it was tiled from floor to ceiling which meant it was running in water from the air conditioning. We were too tired to argue this will do for one night.. We had to take it in turns to move because we both couldn't stand in the floor area at the same time. The Toilet was so tiny by the time I had laid out My flannel the bathroom was full.. OK First night we have had worse and at least its clean and reasonably priced.. I know you get what you pay for but in this case we certainly didnt.. The YMCA with over 500 rooms was fully booked for the whole week, However we did manage to find something slightly bigger and it did have the luxury of a window!!! Accomadation sorted We are off to visit the Victoria Peak sited on the Hong Kong Island which involved a sceanic ferry crossing across the waters.. We decided to take the mountain train to the top and walk down which involved about 13km it was a lovely day the views over Hong Kong were stunning a superb day capped by an evening meal high in one of the restraurants overlooking the harbour, At 20:00hrs each evening there is a laser display lasting fro about 30mins all done to music over the local radio..
Today we Opt for a day at the Amusement Park unusual for us however we were there to see the Giant Pandas who gave us a great display on how lazy they really are. One never moved at all, the other sat eating bamboo and scratching her bum on a stake all of this excitement, we just had to have a go on the rides from merry go Rounds to Roller Coaters we did them all. We also took in the Aquarium and the Dolphins. A Great FUN DAY!! We now get ore funny stares then ever before Mark with his Braided Hair and me RED again!!
After a day in the Shops which is what Hong Kong is all about, We have a day on Macau Island.. Another 1hr Ferry trip Here we visit AMA Temple,Monte Fort Macau Tower , from here they have a Bungjy Jump NO!! I didnt do it the time was wrong would have meant hanging around for too long. (my excuse)he Island is very beautiful but very crowded and so very hot!! not used to this amount of people in any one place yet I guess we have got to get used to it before we go to China.. Next Stop Beijing!!
