Mark & Den's Travels
22nd 23rd Aug Inthanon National Park
WOW What a great time!! Our first adventure was Bamboo Rafting. These rafts were made of poles strapped together. They took four people only on each raft Mark was given the job of Punting at the back of the raft. which was actually quite hard work as we glided through some graded rapids. We were all soaked very early on by the nutty punter on the front who kept delibrately sinking the raft saying "if you are not wet you are not having FUN" After one set of rapids and screaminmg had finished I take a look for Mark and he's off the back!! gone over board through the rapids. Everyone has great laugh at his expense until I tell him "Mark doesnt do Water He doesn't Swim" The boy and Me jump into the river to save a very soaked un happy person.. Poor Ol' Markie things I make him do!!! We stop along the river where we all go for swim through slower rapids and spend time jumping into the river from high above rocks..
Back on land we enjoy a lunch with everyone laughing at their antics, Now the serious trekking starts we have to carry rucksacks with 3days worth of kit.. and wet stuff the Temperature is stiffling 35c humidity high. we walk for 5hrs taking stops at waterfalls to realx and cool off. Arriving at our destination Cham Village, These villagers are from a long chain of Tibbets tribes. we are shown our bamboo house for the night. which consist of a bamboo shelf fitted on either side of the house about 3ft off the ground. We make up our beds before dark as there is no Electric here. We do have the luxury of a mosquito net mmh Thanks. All beds prepared there are 12 of us laying 6 side by side mmh this is going to be very cosy night. Our shower and toilet is another bamboo hut with a bucket for the obvious and another bucket full of rain water for a shower. which involved throwing water from the bucket onto ones body the best way possible!!
We enjoy Supper with stories of the day and songs around the fire Great evening with great company.
The morning comes oh too quickly after a very restless night can you imagine 12 people sharing one room . The local cockeral wakes at 04:30 with his morning chorus. I take an early walk around the village enjoying the early morning activities of the locals preparing for their day.. I take a look into the school there are lots of paintings and stories from other children from around the world.. Breakfast by 06:00 and we are off back down the trail to civilisation.
