Day 73 - Gili Meno/Gili Trawangan

7:30am and i'm woken by a cock-a-doodle-do ... again ... it's becoming a habit. As i'm awake i decide to get sorted for the joruney ahead back to Gili T, We've enjoyed Gili Meno it's been a bit of a shock to the system just how quiet this place actualy is, theres only about 8-9 hotels and 4-5 places to eat also the prayers at 4AM were REALLY loud but this was Ramadan week so can't really complain.

Anyways we head to the harbour and grab a ticket for the island hopper. as we board and say goodbye to Meno the weather is lovely and warm and seas are calm. We pull up and decide to find some accomodation we walk down the strip and come across a place called Jessicas Homestay, After a bit of bartering with the guy we got an ace price and they seemed really nice so we were happy (more on this later) We got sorted for the day grabbed brekky and walked up to the beach.

After we had lunch we headed back to the apartment and i realise i can't find my phone .. a little strange .. i tear the room apart, empty the bags, retrace my steps and its nowhere to be seen. Its been nicked!

I go confront the young guy that shown us our room and he goes and gets his boss, they both claim to have not been in the room and do the usual "oh no i'm sorry to hear this" but by this point i know i'm fighting a losing battle. The only problem is there's no police on this island the don't have a police force on any of the islands so i have to kiss goodbye to my old iphone (it will be sorely missed) however the thief (whoever it was) turns out to be a bit thick as theyd left the new iphone 4, wallets, purse, passports, dollars, credit cards and laptop. As i am now reporting the phone stolen it will be blocked so the thief has a nice white paperweight (good for them) and i'm insured so no biggy just means i get another iphone 4.

Anyways this left us understandably annoyed so i headed to an internet cafe to get details of insurance & contact o2 etc, Rho asks the dude for a refund for our room as we're leaving but they come up with some nonsense about already giving the money to his boss who has now left and they don't understand why we want to leave (Idiots) as it's not a massive amount of money i decide it's not worth the hassle and write it off. We trot off to find somewhere else and find a room a couple doors down at a place called Wrap-A-Snapper (it's a fish and chip shop but they also own bungalows behind it) it's roughly the same price as the tealeafs place but nicer rooms and gardens, a pool and breakfast included so it's ideal, so we snapper it up (sorry) quickly as theres very few rooms available due to locals from Lombok and Asia heading here to celebrate the end of Ramadan. We grab our bags from the other place and walk out with the key (Rhona has her principals and doesn't want them to let the room to anybody else as we paid for it, oh and we're pinching there only key so they have to change the locks :p ) The 2 rooms we're paying for here on Gili T is what we were gonna pay for 1 on Gili Air anyway so the budget hasn't taken a knock.

After dumping our bags at our new place we head out to watch the United Vs Everton match in a Reggae bar called "sama sama" we sit chatting to the barman who is from Lombok and he tells me he's a big United fan. to be fair he did know a lot he even knew who Sharp were (our sponsors from years ago) and he is going to Old Trafford next year.
Thinking my day was starting to get better i leave on the 90th minute with us leading 3-1 ... my luck hadnt changed we conceeded another 2 in the 91st and 92nd minute .. gutted 3-3.

We then head to the cash point to get some more money for tea as we'd just had to fork out for our other room guess what .. it's not working. with our last couple quid we decide to have a big bag of walkers and some tim tams (kind of like penguins) and go home to bed. I've had a miserable day and can't wait for it to be over so i can get up and have a better one tomorrow.

I suppose after have 72 problem free days we were due 1 nightmare .. lets hope it is just the 1 eh!.
