Day 64 - Gili Trawangan - Gili Meno
Up early again this morning as we're going to Gili Meno to see if we can arrange some accomodation there for next week. Didn't really get much sleep as its Ramadan here and you can hear the prayers being called all through the night. Also there seem to be 2 pregnant cats living at the hostel and they decided to meow really loudly at the crack of dawn ... maybe use the ear plugs tonight.
We have a spot of the free breakfast at the hostel before walking around to the harbour where we have to get the public boat from. The boat doesn't take too long only about 15 mins and we're pulling up to the harbour on Gili Meno which like yesterday we have to jump off the boat into the shallow sea and walk onto the beach.
We decide to walk to the north of the island first but after about 20 mins walking we realise that there really isn't much of anything on the north and no lighting along the path if we needed to walk back at night so we turned back and found the strip just south of the harbour.
The 1st hotel we came across looked quite nice (royal reef resort) so we thought we'd pop in and check it out, as we're walking upto the reception a large goat followed by a couple of small ones start making lots of noise at us, as this happens there is a massive cock-a-doodle-doo and a HUGE cockrell appears, then cats and eventually people (It was like being on a farm) We enquired about a room but the woman smiled and said they don't book a couple days in advance and to just turn up on the day as they may or may not have rooms .... Just incase it turns out they don't have rooms we walk up the strip to check out where else we would like to stay. As we reach the end we decide it's time for food and drink and jump in a hut on the beach to cool off, after this we head down to the beach, theres coral everywhere so wasn't the easiest sea to get in for a swim.
After a while it was time to head back to the harbour as the boat heads back to Gili T at 3ish and if we miss it we have to charter our own boat.
The ride home is a bit bumpier, the sea is a lot rougher and waves are soon splashing over the front of the boat and everybody gets a little wet (was actually nice as the sun was still scorchio)
We jump off in the sea and walk to the beach and head for the nearest bar where we sip on a couple of Bintangs till the sun goes down. After a quick shower and change of clothes we head back out for a nice refreshing salad and cocktail. Its starting to feel like a real "holiday" now as we're sat on the strip which is at the beach as the sun goes down and there's lots of UB40/Reggae music on .. all very chilled and very cool.
