Back to Cairns and Gilligans after Cape Trib and all I have done is drink and be ill! We have had two trips to the Cinema - Wolf of Wall Street and Grudge Match, bloody brilliant! - we have had too many nights out downstairs in Gilligans (including Helen in a jelly wrestling competition and a Ministry of Sound Clubbers Guide night) and for Helens last night we went to The Woolshed, another backpacker bar! And... We got some tattoos...... On Helens last day she had arranged a sky dive but due to the obscene monsoon season outside it got cancelled, so due to a previous conversation, we ended up in the tattoo shop next to our hostel. We were going to get stars (friends are like stars, you can't always see them but you know they are there...) but when I walked in I had seen a similar idea to something I wanted to get along with Roman numerals of my mum and Stephens wedding date. So I thought I would get both... So I got my heart with the date on my side, then Helen got her star.... And the woman packed up! Haha! So we went to another tattoo place called Cairns City Tattoo (amazing shop - maybe 5 stations, massive screens, beautiful open design) and Helen got writing and I got a negative star on my thigh (so no outline just the shading on the outside of the star).
Today is exactly a month since we left Sydney, flew to Brisbane and started our East Coast adventure. Today I leave Cairns and fly to Darwin. I said "See you soon" to Helen 2 days ago - she was crying before she even got down the stairs, it was horrible. I feel like I've lost a part of me or went through a break up or something; spent the day absolutely MISERABLE. I also waved off the best couple I have ever met: Jamie and Steph. Then i was the last to go, leaving Danny and Jake behind. It was so sad getting on the shuttle bus to thw airport, end of an era!
We have watched groups travelling together have HORRIBLE and really nasty fall outs with each other on nights outs and how they are going to change plans so they aren't travelling together anymore.... I'm so glad we weren't like that! Don't get me wrong, I speak on behalf of all 3 of us when I say there's been times we wanted to kill each other and travelling the East Coast I wasn't my chilled, care free Springsure self anymore. I must have been a massive pain in the arse. But the laughs we have had, the memories we now share together, along with all the seriously amazing people we have met.... There's literally no words to describe it. We have lived the dream! We got pretty much awesome weather coming up the coast so we have been so lucky too!
I will see Helen, Danny and Jake again in a few weeks in Melbourne. I cannot believe the East Coast adventure is over.... If I had the money I would do it again..... Although finding out my mummy and daddy have booked flights in October to visit means I'll be seeing this fabulous side of the country again YAY, but this time.... In a campervan?! Now to try do the middle of Oz and get to Melbourne for Future Music and the Grand Prix all on a very low budget/bank balance.... FML. Bye Cairns and East Coast xxx I finally got to live my dream and it was worth every single cent!
