So I am now the grand age of 26..... In my head I still feel 15 and my liver is on the wrong side of 40!!!
Tomorrow I start my first afternoon shift! I have turned off that bloody 4am alarm HURRAY!
Work has been good. We are both loving life here and making good money. Our boss wants to help us stay longer so she is going to see if she can get us farm work to do as well as our shifts... That way we can stay until December.
The day before my birthday we borrowed our bosses ute and drove to Emerald. it's the next town, about 45mins away. Really easy drive as its a straight road and you see nothing except the Outback and the odd kangaroo. Typically went straight to the pub after we had a wee wander around.... Massive big Irish pub called The Irish Village. Such a pretty, modern place! Right on the cocktails, chatting to the bar staff. Emeralds another small town so the pub wasn't that busy. We decided to go back later for food after we done some shopping however, we left the pub too late and went to the wrong shopping complex (there's apparently one good one and one bad one....) so not much shopping got done. Back to the pub we went to meet Jo (girl I done Ozintro with that's nannying in Emerald) and had an amazing dinner then headed home.
The next day I woke up at 8am - what a crap time to wake up on your birthday never mind your day off! I get up to go to the toilet and notice two birthday banners on the door... Poor Kim must have gotten up before her 4.30am start to put them up. About 10 minutes later, Kim comes up on her break, bursts in with a massive gift bag filled with presents then runs next door. She's shouting me to go outside and there she is with a birthday cake and about 6 sparklers in it haha! She is such a wee babe! I will also say that cake was the best cake EVER!
Kim later phoned me down to work as my parcel had arrived from my mum and dad which I was soooo excited about as we had discovered my mum had wrote the wrong address on it so didn't think we would ever see it again.
When Kim finished work we got straight into the bikini's, set up the sunbathing den we have at the back of our block and cracked open the wine! And that's what we done until about 6pm. The term drunk doesn't cut it haha.
Had dinner in work and sitting trying to soak up the alcohol and I recognise the bread delivery guy coming in with a delivery.... I said to Kim "Why is the bread guy here it's bloody 7pm?!" ... He's carrying a bouquet of flowers with a birthday balloon and merry Kim starts shouting "ARE THEY FOR LAURA IT'S HER BIRTHDAY!" Bloody mortified! Another surprise from my amazing parents! I have never been sent flowers before, was so cute. Then on the walk back to our rooms I seen my 1st shooting star!
I thought I was going to be miserable on my birthday because I wasn't on a beach or doing something outstanding... I had the best birthday ever!
The next day was pretty similar except we also went to the pub, met up with some of the guys who live in our park when they are working on the mines. Apparently at the mature age of 26 I still don't have a sensible bone in my body or thought in my head cause there I am drinking, dancing, loving life at 2.30am and I was up for work at 4am! That went well....
This week we borrowed the ute and went to Emerald again. We stopped at The Virgin Rocks which is the massive mountaintop you can see from anywhere in Springsure and its typically what Springsure is famous for. This shopping trip was waaaaaay more successful - celebrating my tax rebate going into my bank account with a few dresses, shoes, bag, sunglasses......
On one of Kim's first shifts she got given a number from this guy who does the shifts and works here at the mines, he doesn't live in our park though. He seemed super nice, dead laid back, no funny business just plain genuine. Super keen on her, wanting to take her out, on about buying her favourite perfume for her.... Etc etc. Literally found out 2 days ago that he has a girlfriend. And a baby. Which they had chatted about in convo and he denied both! So that was a massive shock, it's grounded us a little and reminded us not everyone can be trusted.... But at the same time not everyones going to be full of s***, so onwards, upwards and back to living the dream :)
Other than that we had another Friday down the pub with the boys and Jo came through from Emerald which was a laugh. We are going to be working 6 days from now as one of the other girls leaves today... $$$$$$$$$$ hello dolla!
