My birthday started on Thursday when several of my work colleagues surprised me with a cake and two skirts. Skirts never fit me properly - these fitted perfectly. Last week Derry (ECE chief) had put a piece of string around my waist and stood beside me and that was all it took for her mum to make me two great work skirts. They are cool and very smart.
Yesterday - my actual birthday - was spent enjoying myself. Sheila and I went to The Plantation for lunch and massage - very posh and grown up. Nice for a short time but only for the odd day as it was no more Cambodia than Siem Reap.
At five o'clock we went down to the River Mekong and enjoyed a sunset cruise in the rain. Actually it was only raining at the start, it then dried up, there was no sunset however the city looked great and everyone seems to have enjoyed it.
We ended up in the Penthouse overlooking Wot Lanka having one last beer.
Really not bad for someone that doesn't do birthdays.
Hitting 60 has made me reflective and after a great deal of deep thinking - mostly with a beer in my hand - I have reached the conclusion that as there is nothing I can do about the number I will continue to try new things, travel to new places (and some old favorites) and basically doing anything I fancy!! Maybe I will settle down and grow up when I reach 70.

Chris Hi Liz, yes I am still keeping up with your adventure! Happy belated birthday so pleased to hear your really enjoying this phase of your life. Keep it up. X
Chris & Rog Never grow up, just always enjoy yourself. We are at the age when we don't have to give a damn what anyone else thinks. Not that either of us have been that worried to start with. Glad you had a good time. Welcome to our 60's xx
