Up early today with a view to redeem yesterday's failed missions.
We venture around the rocks along the coast line instead of "bush whacking" and we were not disappointed the view before us. Clear water made it easy to identify all the marine life and a huge school of fish in there thousands creating a shape shifting cloud right beneath the surface. The hours passed by as we lazed on our own private bay - Monkey Bay. However upon departure we rechristened it Butterfly Beach. Hundreds of them, peaceful drifting around; a stunning blue and yellow. This made the whole trip worth it and reassured any doubts of why we do this, travel days to find this single moment.
At 3.30 pmwe embarked upon our 9 hour journey, to get on a 7 hour coach that would arrive the following morning in Airlie Beach, 7am.
At 4:30pm, Matt's comment was "We still have 8 hours to wait for the coach, basically a full day!"
After a one hour bus journey back to Rocky it was time to find something to do:
- Two course Mexican meal (1hr)
- Use McWifi (6hrs)
- Make two cups of coffee last (6hrs)
- Avoid drunken Aboriginals (for the duration)
We found that trying to drag out sitting in McDonald's either makes you feel sick after too much ice cream or become high on caffeine!
We board the night bus at 00.40 am - it's going to be a long night!!!!
