Nervous Turkey!
8am flights means 4am wake up. Thanks to Kay we got a lift and didn't have to get public transport. We made a quick goodbye to save emotions running and headed to check-in. Thank the Lord we were actually booked onto this flight.
Within no time we were sat on the plane ready to embark on the 3 hour flight. We got ourselves settled, headphone on, film on ready to go. Until....Matt got a thump in the back of his head from behind. Accidental we thought until the air hostess came and smiled and asked us in a very apologetic way if we would like to move. It turns out the crazy drunk nag behind us was causing havoc. The plane was empty so this wasn't an issue, a row of seats to ourselves and full recline. In preparation for the cold we were togged up but this still didn't keep the cold out as we stepped out into 15 degree Auckland. 40 minute bus ride took us to the city for a wander about and to find our hostel. We felt like we were being treated as tonight was 'free' as we had purchased a BASE jump card back in England. We must remind ourselves that it isn't 'free' and this does not mean we can spend more on each of these 10 days! A crowd of people urged us to check out the 'Virtual Kitchen'. It was a strange experience, wearing goggles with built in smell sensors and headphones, we could turn 360degrees and watch the clips being played to us. An unexpected free treat.
