Helping out on the farm was very enjoyable. The jobs we were given got progressively more important as trust was gained.
Job 1 - Water the allotment (It is very important to make sure you use the correct finger over the end of the hose pipe to disperse the water adequately).
Job 2 - Shovel cow manure (No skill required)
Job 3 - Help make a bed to sew red cabbage seeds (We are now pros - Caz we will be on the allotment next year!)
The whole affair sounds very easy but under the 35 degrees circumstances we award ourselves the 'Top Grafters' title!! Mr Rattana, who runs the farm, could tell we were flagging. He quickly pulled out 'Mamma Rattana's Pork Cake' - our first glimpse of this was a soggy looking banana leaf package. Once unwrapped we looked at each other as if to say 'It smells like the inside of a false leg' and 'How do we escape this?' Minutes passed but inevitably we both picked up a slice and smiled sweetly. The gag reaction was rapid.... the taste - not good. Pork, beans and sticky rice, wrapped in a banana leaf and cooked. After apologising many times we grabbed the water. To Char's delight out came some ripe bananas straight from the tree.
Once our work was done, we relaxed #HammockLife.
#HammockLife - A great way to increase the curvature of the spine.
Dreading another serving of 'pork surprise' (A thing that consists of pork with some form of vegetable - we had this for 3 meals in a row) we sat down at the dinner table. Instead the closest thing to KFC arrived.... AMAZING! We didn't think it was possible as we are pretty much out in the sticks. After a quick 20minutes of exercise to boost the productivity level of the day, it was time to hit the sack.
