Today we got up early and went for breakfast as we had to catch a bus to Phnom Penh. A mini bus picked us up and took us to the bus station, the caoch was quite pleasant and even had wifi! But not so pleasant for the worlds tallest man who was sat behind Matt (Who had his chair reclined back, not knowing he was behind him!)
After stopping numerous times, with food options such as bats and spiders we finally arrived in Phnom Penh 8 hours later. Straight away we grabbed a tuk tuk to our hostel and once again we were told to hold to tightly to our bags during the journey. They often get pulled from the tuk tuk, taking you with them! The hostel wasn't bad with hardley any mosquitoes... bonus.
It soon became clear that Phnom Penh was our absolute nightmare! There is no order to traffic, weith 4 lanes either side, travelling in any direction that they like! It was difficult to tell which side of the road they were supposed to drive on! Trying to capture some of the city before night we grabbed the lonely planet and set off. The roads are numbered but not really in a logical order but eventually we found a bar to eat in 'Equinox'. Surprised by the lovely food we had, we award it 'The best fried rice'so far! Shortly followed the small nightmare of trying to find another interesting area..... As it got darker we decided to jump in a tuk tuk as we didn't have a clue which direction to head in. We are trying to figure out why things get harder as night falls, but they do! When we realised the tuk tuk driver didn't know where he was going either, we paid the fare and headed to the nearest bar for a beer.
The killing fields film was showing at our hostel at 7:30pm so we decided that we should try and make the showing as we will be visiting this at some point. Once again, realising the driver didn't know where we were staying we frantically followed the map and eventually got out within walking distance. 30 minutes into the film, we turned it off, realising it wasn't the best thing to improve our view of the city. Instead 8 out of 10 cats seemed a better option to lighter the mood and take Charlotte's mind away from 'Larry the Lizard' before falling asleep.
