LeJoG Blog June 7th: Day 6 Managed to drag ourselves away from the most brilliant B&B location at 9.15am, a bit later than we wanted, climbed for about 5 miles, and then a tremendous downhill stretch to cycle through the centre of Shrewsbury. Navigation was tough as the route keeps you off main roads, and we did make some errors. We even asked a Postman the way to Loppington and he didn't know! (Not as good as our local Postmen, hey Tony?!)Got there in the end and met my mate Mike Philips, who has just moved into the area from Southmoor, and that was a real boost for both of us. At 63 miles disaster struck as Graham managed to completely wreck his derailleur and chain! Had to call ahead for a taxi to come and get him and his bike while I cycled the last 19 miles on my own....ooer!Made it to the bike shop in Frodsham just as they were finishing his bike and we managed the last 2 miles without any further mishaps.
One of the longest days of the whole trip done, 390 miles completed, tomorrow we enter the Dark Satanic Mills of Accrington and Blackburn. Both feeling in good shape, and after tomorrow the scenery changes dramatically as we head for the Lakes and Scotland.SH & GLG
