Still raining so no cycling but wine instead. I know 10 O' clock in the morning is a bit early to start drinking wine but the Wine Centre was an interactive wine education centre! First you had to go sniffing lots of smells fruity, nutty, woody etc and then we sat and watched a film and had six glasses to sniff and taste. The experts on the video told us what we were suppose to be smelling and tasting. We both agreed the most expensive was best so I think we must be wine experts just like Oz Clark.
So what else could we do in the rain ? Napier has an excellent spa on on the front with laned swimming pool as well as spa pools and steam rooms. It was very quiet and nobody on the sun loungers, it might have been something to do with the wind and rain. The hottest spa pool had an excellence view over Hawke Bay, so we assumed. Today, beyond the crashing waves on the beach the horizon was a dark grey with sea and sky merging together.
Lunch in the van was followed by a visit to Alan and Ann's a distance relative who made us very welcome on a wet afternoon. So back to the beach side campsite where the wind is rocking the van and the rain beating on the windows, still the local farmers are happy but I reckon the vines are being drowned now so please STOP raining!
