Today we started volunteering.
I had felt really unwell yesterday and was even worse this morning, which mixed with the nerves wasn't a good combination!
I pushed through and we arrived at the school where we were told we could teach together and given a 10 minute talk before being put in front of a class of 15 students with no idea what to do!
We somehow managed to wing it through the two hour morning session and came back to chill until the afternoon session started at 3. We are teaching the same grade with different children, so should be able to use the same lesson in both sessions. However, the second class were further ahead and did things a lot quicker meaning we were having to improvise to fill time!
Although we enjoyed it in a sense and the children are lovely neither of us can see us committing to it for as long as originally planned. We have asked to stay for the week and see how we feel but I think that will probably be long enough!
Although it is only two hours in the morning and afternoon, the walk to and from twice a day and the heat makes it exhausting. We will see how the rest of the week goes but I think we may spend the rest of our time in Siem Real exploring and having some chill out time!
