Woke up to get the bus to Milford sound. During the walk we could feel the could and the change in temperature from Christchurch. On arriving at the crowne plaza where we were due to be picked up we could see a display confirming that it was in fact rather cold at a mere 2.6 degrees.
Thankful the coach turned up pretty much on time we hopped on board and took our seats for the long bus ride to Milford - 3 hours long in fact. This wasn't too bad though as the views were pretty nice, even seeing snow on the mountains next to us.
Unfortunately through it was much like our uncle Brian's tour in cairns and soon after leaving Queenstown the heavens opened and they didn't let off for a whole 25 hours!
Our journey however lead us into a tunnel through the mountain and at the other side a short walk to a waterfall which was by this stage pretty full!
Down at the harbour we got on the juicy cruise boat which was to take us around. For the most part we stayed indoors viewing the amazing scenery.
We had free cups of tea and lunch included to made use of these and then when feeling brave ventured outside for a short while - well until the water started to seep through my not so waterproof jacket.
We got a few pics and even got to see some seals and by some I mean 2 but 2 is at least better than none.
An hour later and we were back at the ferry terminal and back on the bus. Not much to say about the journey back as we slept or tried to sleep for most of it.
Back to hostel we quickly did some washing, cooked dinner, showered to heat ourselves back up and then had an early night!
