We were up early the next morning as we had to hike to the bus stop with our bags. Not the easiest walk but at least we got to see a bit more of Christchurch!
Whilst waiting for the bus I popped to a cafe round the corner to pick up some teas and breakfast pastries.
By the time i got back the bus was waiting and we had 10 minutes to drink the really hot teas as weren't allowed to take them on the bus. The driver was funny, he knew guernsey and provided us with lots of info and jokes on route.
We eventually made it to Queenstown around 4.30 only to discover we had to lug our cases up a stupidly steep hill. This was fun...not!
We dumped bags at the hostel and went into town. First stop was Patagonias for a hot chocolate and then fergburger for dinner. This was an a awesome burger and totally lived up to all the recommendations we had received. The queue also backed this up and we had to wait 20 minutes.
Back at the hostel we decided to have an early night.
This is by far my favourite hostel to date. It's more like a home, with an amazing veranda, views of the mountains and lake, there is Jimmy the cat and a nice lounge area.
We can definitely tell the temperature difference from Australia. It's a lot colder in Queenstown but thankfully we have proper beds and douvets...no bunk beds!
