This mornign we drove to the garage and were told our van would probably take an hour to fix - the mechanic wasn't sure whether he had brought the right part after having a look! We went for a walk into the nearby village where we visited the bookshop (can you see a theme emerging here..?). I managed to get a bargain - 2 books for $10 to add to our box!
After killing an hour, we walked back up the road and found that our van was all ready for us - no charge (Backpacker will pay!) and good service - time to hit the road again!
We drove South towards Napier in Hawke's Bay, after a stop at Pak n Save to buy supplies. Napier is famous for two things - wine and its art deco architecture, and we planned on experiencing both over the next two days, but mainly the wine! We found our way to Bay View Snapper campsite after a quick lunch stop (2 min Thai noodles - mmm!) and were given a site right next to the beach, with a view of Napier town in the distance - perfect! We booked a wine tour with 'Vince's Wine Tours' through the reception desk for tomorrow - $60 each but lots of free wine! Had a quiet night watching TV (which was outside!) and keeping warm in the van!
