We got up early so that we had plenty of time to organise the next stage of our trip, and to sightsee afterwards. Peter Pans travel agent wasn't open when we got there, so Alice had a look at phones/ tablets in Vodafone and JB Hi-Fi (an electrical shop), which were conveniently located next door to each other. She ended up buying a tablet which you can insert a SIM card into, and so can use as a phone, which was somehow loads cheaper than getting a phone which has a big screen like a tablet.
When we went back to the travel agent, we managed to nab the last Jucy van in the Auckland branch. We have it for 3 weeks, and also got some tours whilst we were at Peter Pans- the Franz Josef glacier tour, the maori village tour, and the geyser pools tour. Once these were booked, and Alice had finished calling her mum and auntie back in England on her new tablet, we went up the sky tower, which I wasn't that bothered about seeing, but once I was up I quite enjoyed it. I was too nervous to stand on the glass panel.
On the way to the art gallery, we couldn't resist having one of Mrs Higgin's cookies. We shared a peanut brownie one and a fruity oatmeal one, and accompanied it with a Fix coffee- the equivalent of 7-11. The machine was a bit confusing to use, and you had to press the button twice to get a large instead of a regular, so it overflowed in the cup.
I was expecting the art gallery to show more about Maori culture than it did, whereas it was more showcasing non-Maori artwork.
Because we didn't know what else to do by the time we had finished, we decided to go back to Peter Pan's so we could do Wi-Fi related jobs like claiming superannuation back, although I had to go back to the hostel to get my passport details first.
