Today we drove 274 miles to Desert View RV Resort in Needles CA. Once again we were affected by the wind during our drive. Also we reached over 6000 feet in altitude near Flagstaff. It’s a nice campground with the normal hookups and an address of 5300 Route 66 (for those who remember the song, television, or film). There are palm trees lining the property and bushes enclosing each campsite for privacy. In the late afternoon, we drove to the nearby Jack Smith Park on the Colorado River which divides Arizona and California here. Both dogs enjoyed the water so much! Pure joy for everyone. Thanks to Patti for capturing the moment. (We added 2 photos to the Photo section which will be expanded as we get more time). We are now in the Pacific time zone.
We had to take a longer route. Both of our RVs have GPS units that allow us to put in our RV specifications so it can pick a safe route. In this case, a normal GPS route would have been 35 miles less but taken us through Jerome which would have been very bad in a RV. But you always have to double check your route to make sure there are no unpleasant surprises. As we travel through the mountains going north from here that will become more important.
PS. I want to thank each of you for adding your comments. I so enjoy reading your additions! Please continue making this blog more entertaining.

Chris Mekdsy What an experience of a lifetime for you!!!! Also, I see you are travelling Rt. 66--the only memories and/or exposure I personally have of Rt. 66 is the TV series years ago. So enjoyable. All is okay here. Same old, same old--Y pool 3x week, and Pawtucket 2x a week. Truthfully, I am getting too old for Pawtucket 2 x a week. But I don't want to moan to you about THAT. LOL Anyway, keep up your travel adventures. I among all others, appreciate them and some of us are vicariously living it through you. :)
