Lachie's QLD Adventure
We had a huge day driving to Mt Surprise. The campground was lovely and there were butterflies everywhere so I was able to catch some. They were black and white. Will and I had a quick swim in the pool. After tea we all read our books until it was time for sleep.
The next morning we drove out a bit further and went to the Undara Lava tubes. They were made by lava flowing out of a volcano 190,000 years ago. It left lava all over the ground which then just cools down to make rocks called Basalt. The lava flowed the furthest in the world, 165km in one stretch. After thousands of years the tubes made huge caves which we could walk in. The caves were cold and dark and had colours on them from calcium and ion. We also saw tiny bats.
