What a better way to start a Sunday than to go for a 10km walk in the country, and that is exactly what we did. It had been on the cards for awhile that we would have a go at the SBS 10k walk/run. My original plan was to run the 10ks with Dad, but as my knee was still playing up we decided to do the 10k walk with my Mum, Aunty, Cousin and Sister. Dad did have one condition though and that was we had to dress up!! So hence the camo gear complete with toy guns, the theme was army!! It was a pretty good event but there were some vast differences to the City to Surf event I had recently done back in Perth. 1. There were no roads closed, this was only an issue when we had to walk on open roads with an 80k speed limit. And 2. We ended up walking through farms. We took country to a new level. We were just lucky there were no cows in our way, but in saying that you could definitely smell them!! Ah only in New Zealand!! We all finished the walk together, all decked out in our camo gear, so I'm looking forward to seeing the photos. Emily even won a spot prize, wait for it............a six pack of Steinlager Beer!!!
After the race it was time for a feed! And what a feast it was!! Roast chicken cooked with a can of coke inside it, lots of different salads, mussels, prawns, fish, choc cake, and banana cake!! Delicious!!!!! There is nothing better than home cooked meals at Mums!!
Of course once you have a huge feast you then need to have a nap. I woke up with 30 mins to get ready, and as most of you know that's heaps of time for me, NOT!! We still made it to Wales and Fiji on time so not to worry. Again the atmosphere was awesome. Emily and I played a game with the Fiji supporters judging there afros to be either real or a wig. And let me tell you, there are some awesome real afros out there!!! The game itself was completely one sided. Wales dominated which was obvious in the 1,258,890 to 0 scoreline!! I started feeling sorry for Fiji in the end, but I couldn't cheer for them as I was head to toe in red. So Wales have made it through to the quarter finals, let's see how they go against Ireland!
Today was also the day we got the news about Daniel Carter, as you can imagine it's all over the media here and will be for days to come. But I have no doubt I will be seeing the All Blacks in the final come October 23. It's sink or swim time now for Colin Slade, and he will step up with the support of the other players and be apart of the team that reclaims the Webb Ellis Trophy!!! The All Blacks are a team not just one player! Go the ABs!!!
