Kya Travels
After a sleep in we got up and got ready and headed down the street. We found a subway which had seating so we went inside for a sub, then kept on walking. We were going up Grafton street, which is a big pedestrian street with lots of shops, so there were plenty of people around doing their Christmas shopping! We walked up a while and stopped to watch a band called Keywest who were busking there. They were playing a very great catchy song, which we worked out later was a One Republic song. They had so many people standing around watching them, that the singer actually had to tell the crowd to step back to let an armoured police car and a street sweeper pass! They were about to play another (their final) song, when a police man came and told them they had to stop playing! Damn! So we kept walking and circled back around to Music Maker and went in to have another play of the 12-string guitar. We got a final quote from the guy there, then headed down the street to get some wifi to check the conversion and know how much money our card had on it, then went back. After the conversion, it worked out to be the exact amount we needed, give or take a few dollars! Fate? Or destiny?! We went back and put the card through the machine with our fingers crossed, and waited, waited, waited, then it approved!!! We were the proud new owners of a brand new beautiful Fender 12-string guitar!!! We headed straight back to the hostel, where we showed off our new baby to the receptionist and ended up getting our other guitar down and getting the hostel guitar out and had a bit of a jam session in the lobby with an Irish girl who was staying there as well, Larisa. We played some covers together, and had a little singalong session and jammed out Lady Gaga's 'Paparazzi' of all songs, as Larisa sang. After a couple of hours of jamming, she headed out and we went upstairs and went to our room where we played the guitar more and more, until it was finally around dinner time. We walked out to the lobby where we ran into Larisa again and walked down to Centra together to get some more pizza for dinner, then went back to the hostel for the free mulled wine which was being made at 8pm. But apparently the girl hadn't realised the time, and made it an hour early, and it was all already finished! Noooooo! So we ate our pizza without drinks. I got a message from Pancho, who would be joining us with Nina tomorrow, asking if I could sort something out with his hostel booking, so I went to the reception to sort that out, then we went back to our room and played more guitar. We ended up heading to bed relatively early, but neither of us could sleep, and our room mates kept going in and out, so we ended up getting to sleep closer to 2-3am.
