We left Milford Sound in very low cloud which we had to break through as we drove up the mountains on our way to Queenstown. Along the way we stopped off in Garston which is the most inland village in New Zealand and went in their only shop to try some local honey, which was very yummy.
When we arrived in Queenstown it was a lovely hot, sunny afternoon and the first thing we did was book Richard for a Bungy jump! We spent the afternoon sitting along the waterfront eating ice cream before spending the evening at a DOC site called Twelve mile delta which was situated next to a lovely lake.
The following morning we headed up in the Gondola to the top of the mountain overlooking Queenstown. Once up there we had a go on the luge which saw us hurtling down the hill on little karts which was great fun. Soon after Richard was plucking up the courage to do his bungy jump. It was a short bus ride to Kawarau bridge which is where the original bungy jump happened. Richard was strapped in for dear life before he edged out on to a tiny platform proceeding to then plummet towards the river below whilst making a lot of noise! He said it was absolutely amazing and best of all he survived!
