Auckland is a very busy city and nothing like the rest of New Zealand! We stayed at a camp site on the outskirts of Auckland and suddenly we had four lanes of traffic which was a shock for us as we had been used to driving on single lanes for the last month!
We chickened out of city driving and opted to take the bus into the city. When we arrived we started to explore but unfortunately it started to rain heavily. Because we haven't had access to wifi to check the weather forecast we had dressed in shorts and t shirts and not taken an umbrella so we got quite wet. We had lunch in a sports bar and luckily for us someone had left a big umbrella behind the bar which the waitress kindly gave to us.
We explored the Wynyard quarter which gave us views of Auckland bridge and we then looked around the city's art gallery.
Despite the weather we enjoyed our short time in Auckland although we both agree we much prefer rural New Zealand.
